“Green lights”- A Call to Adventure.
As I ride around the eclectic city of Austin, I enjoy listening to a variety of things from music on Spotify to audiobooks on Audible to pass the time.
Most recently I listened through McConaughey’s book “Greenlights”. This book was quite a masterpiece in its own right.
It’s one of those books that when you finish it, you yourself want to write too; not only that, it might inspire you to consider doing things in your life that you had probably forgotten all about.
In his late twenties, seemingly as a man with very little baggage (literally and figuratively) as he chased down his dreams caravanning through the country with his dog Miss Hud; McConaughey brought out a side of himself that portrayed him as a man who truly has an adventurous zest for life.
As a 29 year old living in Austin Texas, It has caused me to reconsider my own approach to life.
At a time when adult-decisions are demanded to be made, I begin to reconsider what opportunities I am forgoing in life.
Stability is proper and good but when I feel my inner child in me that seeks more exploration, I am forced to question my next moves.
I feel that for a man of my age, the book is a true call to adventure.
Discerning what that adventure might be, I am not sure. It could be as simple as choosing the path less traveled in my life.
I find that amidst the adult-life decisions ahead of me, I might rather be lost for sometime before proceeding.
I would consider it time well spent if it meant a clearer outlook on life
More importantly, one of less desperation and NEED in my life.
I prefer to live a life of WANTING something, but not NEEDING it as the book recommends
What’s your call to adventure?
Cheers!
